The North Face Announces Environmental Commitments

In honor of Earth Day, The North Face is introducing a new sustainability-focused “vision” it calls “Exploration Without Compromise,”  which outlines a series of actionable commitments the company will implement over the next few years. The North Face plans to use a seal to identify its sustainable products which it defines as having been made with “75 percent or greater recycled, organic, regenerative and/or responsibly-sourced renewable materials by weight” on its website and in its stores.

About 600 Brompton Electric Folding Bicycles are being recalled. Due to a software malfunction, the electric system can continue to provide assistance to the motor, causing continued forward momentum, when the rider is not actively pedalling, posing fall and injury hazard

U.S. Consumers Struggling To ‘Go Green’

A new Oracle Utilities survey shows that U.S. consumers are eager to ‘go green,’ but don’t necessarily know where to start. Nearly half (45 percent) of respondents said fighting climate change is personally important, but 39 percent of respondents surveyed have never even heard the word ‘decarbonization’ and 67 percent have no, or only a vague, idea where their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions come from.

Helly Hansen CEO Paul Stoneham To Step Down

Paul Stoneham is to step down as CEO of Helly Hansen after six years at the helm of the technical outdoor brand. He will remain in his role until a new CEO is appointed and a handover period has occurred.

Mammut Sees 27 Percent Growth In First Quarter

The Conzzeta Group, based in Zurich, reported sales in its Outdoor segment, which consists of the Mammut brand, rose 26.9 percent on a reported basis and 28.2 percent on a currency-neutral basis in the first quarter ended March 31.

Birkenstock Opens Store In Brooklyn

Birkenstock opened a store in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The Brooklyn store follows the successful openings of the brand’s first two U.S. company-owned retail stores in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City and in Venice Beach, CA.
