Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. reported same-store sales were down 11.4 percent for the first quarter ended April 3 and flat compared to the pre-pandemic first quarter of fiscal 2019. Earnings were also down against year-ago record results but exceeded guidance.

NRF Economist Sees Consumer Strength Despite Inflationary Pressure

ICSC Survey Highlights Ongoing Importance Of Small Business

International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) released the results of its Small Business Consumer Survey that found that 94 percent of adults either shop, spend or use the services of small businesses. Over half of consumers, 54 percent, shop at small businesses at least once a week, and 42 percent frequent small businesses more frequently than before the pandemic.

Kohl’s Increases Rewards Program Earn Rate To 7.5 Percent

Kohl’s announced the nationwide rollout of its new Kohl’s Rewards program enhancement that will offer all Rewards members that use their Kohl’s Card an elevated earn rate of 7.5 percent Kohl’s Rewards on every purchase. Previously, all Kohl’s Rewards members would earn 5 percent Kohl’s Rewards, regardless of payment method.
