<span style="color: #808080;">Consumer demand for sustainable performance fabric from garment manufacturers is rising. Unifi continues to provide answers to manufacturers, and this week will introduce three new fabric technologies at Outdoor Retailer identified below.

  • TruFlexx Engineered Stretch Fiber made with Repreve is 100-percent polyester that eliminates the need for spandex because spandex limits recyclability after a garment’s useful life. TruFlexx can replace spandex in the 5 to 10-percent content range creating the possibility of a 100-percent closed-loop recyclable poly fabric.
  • TruClean Chemical Free Anti-Static Fiber permanently inhibits static, cling, repels pet hair, lint and other small particles. The technology is a sustainable option available with Repreve recycled fiber. Applications include apparel, pet bedding, upholstery, curtains, and automotive.
  • Repreve Nylon Staple Fiber is more eco-friendly for spun yarns. It can be used to improve the hand, feel and strength of fabrics and add a natural heather or a cooling effect. The fiber is lightweight, durable, moisture wicking, and resists pilling and abrasion — all desirable characteristics that can easily be blended into a more sustainable yarn.

“True innovation happens when we collaborate with our brand and textile partners to create unique performance technologies that are embedded in the fiber, and we are excited to share these exciting new products at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show.” —Richard Gerstein, Executive VP Global Branded Premium Value-Added Products and Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer, Unifi
