Joe's Sports & Outdoor said it is posting strong sales increases during the current cold snap in the Pacific Northwest, led by sales of tire chain and cold weather products.

“People in the Northwest always head to Joe's before and during an arctic blast,” said Reese Thedford, Joe's Marketing Manager, in a statement. “Yesterday our automotive categories saw an increase of over 100% compared to this time last year, plus we had huge sales increases in winter apparel, generators, and other gear you need to stay safe and warm. Since the cold front was forecast last week, we've sold thousands of sets of tire chains, especially in the Portland market.”

Although some local  news reports say Joe's stores are out of stock in tire chains, Alan Thacker, Director of Merchandise Planning for Joe's, noted that stores are receiving direct deliveries of tire chains on Wednesday and throughout the rest of the week, in anticipation of more inclement weather to come.

“It's important that customers know that can find what they need at Joe's to get through this, be it tire chains, propane heaters, jackets or other essentials. We want people to be safe, and we want them to know that Joe's is there to help.”

Joe's Sports & Outdoor has 30 locations throughout the Pacific Northwest. Revenues for this fiscal year are expected to exceed $290 million.
