Retail Imports Remain High, But Could Be Higher Without Port Congestion

Imports at the nation’s largest retail container ports should remain at near-record levels this month but could see a slight dip from last year’s unusually high numbers as congestion slows the movement of backed-up cargo, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released by the National Retail Federation.

Lululemon Expands Mirror To Canada

The Buckle’s September Comps Grew 18 Percent

The Buckle Inc. announced today that comparable store net sales, for stores open at least one year, for the 5-week period ended October 2, 2021 increased 17.8 percent from comparable store net sales for the 5-week period ended October 3, 2020.

REI To Hold #OptOutside For Seventh Year

This November, REI will once again close its 171 retail stores, distribution centers, call centers, and headquarters on Black Friday. The closures mark the seventh straight year of its #OptOutside campaign.

Arc’teryx Appoints VP, Store Development 

Arc’teryx announced the appointment of Chris Pelyk to VP, store development, effective immediately. In his new role, Pelyk will be responsible for overseeing the global expansion, real estate, store design, and construction of its retail stores. He was formerly senior director of store development in Asia for Lululemon.

Scheels To Open Second Store In Kansas

Scheels announced plans to open its second store in Wichita, KS. The retail location is set to open Spring 2023. The company’s first Kansas store opened in Overland Park in 2015.
