New IHRSA Data Shows High, Growing COVID-Related Closure Rates For Fitness Facilities

IThe International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) released new industry data that showed another increase in the number of health clubs, gyms and studios that have closed since this time last year. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, 25 percent of all fitness facilities have closed across the country, and 30 percent of studios closed as of January 1, 2022, an increase of 11 percent since January 1, 2021.

Fortium Holdings Establishes Management Team For Norr Skate

Fortium Holdings Corp. has entered into advisory agreements to support its wholly-owned subsidiary, Norr LLC, which is launching the Norr skateboard brand with plans to expand into other sporting goods categories in the future. The advisory team includes Brian McKinley, Alex Souêtre, and Mike Burgess.

Custom club fitter Club Champion announced the opening of three new fitting studios this month, located in Madison, WI; Meridian, ID; and The Villages, FL.

Ironman Group Announces Promotions 

The Ironman Group announced several leadership promotions, including Stefan Petschnig to chief business development officer and Matt Wikstrom to chief partnerships officer. Thomas Veje Olsen was promoted to senior vice president and named the managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), replacing Petschnig.
