Shimano, the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycle components, announced its re-investment in the sport of triathlon with its official global sponsorship of Ironman and 70.3 events in 2010.
Ironman events are the platform for aspiring athletes to prove themselves in the sport of triathlon. In 2009, over 125,000 people participated in global Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events. In 2010, Shimano will be an official sponsor in more than 30 of those events.
For decades, elite triathletes have relied on Shimano technologies, wheels and components to achieve greatness in triathlon, from qualifying events around the globe to the lava fields of Kona. Shimano sponsors over 30 top competitive triathletes on its global team, including Craig Alexander – reigning Ironman World Champion.
