Jeff McGuane has stepped down as global president of Cycling Sports Group (CSG), which sells the Cannondale, GT, Mongoose and some Schwinn bicycles to independent bicycle dealers.

McGuane’s resignation is not related to parent company Dorel Industries' June 13 announcement that it would cut 50 positions worldwide to adjust to disappointing sales in the first half of the year, according to a CSG spokesman.

“It was a personal decision,” CSG said in a brief statement provided to Outdoor Business UPDATE. “He’s been an important part of the company for a long time and we’re sad to see him go and we really wish him well.”

McGuane had held positions of rising responsibility since joining Cannondale as a credit manager in 1994, including sales account manager (1995-97), region manager (1997-99), president of Japan/Australia (1999-2004). He was president of Europe from 2004-08, when Cannondale grew tremendously in the region.

In 2008, the year Dorel Industries Inc. of Canada acquired Cannondale Bicycle Corporation and Sugoi Performance Apparel in 2008 and placed them under CSG, McGuane was promoted to president of CSG International. He served there 10 months before being named president of CSG North America, where he served until January, 2012.

McGuane sits on the board of directors for Bike Walk Connecticut and is a former director of the International Mountain Biking Association.
