The Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America (MAPGA) hired Army Veteran Tony Kovacic as the Association’s director of business affairs.

A resident of Fairfax, VA, Kovacic will oversee partnerships and sponsorships to enhance support for MAPGA members, youth and player development programming and the Association’s charitable foundation, PGA Reach Middle Atlantic.

A native of Cleveland, OH, Kovacic’s journey began when he joined the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Analyst after graduating high school. His seven years of service, followed by another 14 years as a defense contractor, honed his skills and instilled in him a unique perspective. This, coupled with a Business Management & Administration degree from St. Leo University in Florida, paved the way for his transition to a business-focused career in the private sector, joining Catalina Marketing in St. Petersburg, FL, as a senior program manager and commercialization manager.

During this time, Kovacic’s love for the game of golf grew, and he merged his passion with his military and business background, setting his sights on a career in the golf industry. This journey led him to join the team at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, MD, before securing his new role with the MAPGA.

“Tony is a champion of the game and business of golf, and we are excited to have him join our team as Director of Business Affairs,” said Jon Guhl, executive director of the Middle Atlantic PGA. “His experience in business will help us grow and foster new partnerships for the Association, while his military background will be a tremendous asset in our continued mission to improve the lives of veterans through the amazing PGA Hope program.”
