The international trade show OutDoor is strengthening its roots at Messe Friedrichshafen. A new contract with the European Outdoor Group (EOG), the European industry association, ensures that Friedrichshafen will continue to host the meeting of the world’s OutDoor industry through 2013 and for the years to follow.

The biggest Outdoor Trade Show in Europe has been hosted in Friedrichshafen since the beginning in 1994 and the change to a rolling contract is the natural result of a successful long-time partnership. The new partnership was sealed in advance of the 19th edition of the show, which will take place from July 12-15.

“The fact that the success story of the OutDoor in Friedrichshafen will continue is the wonderful result of a highly-motivated trade show team” said a pleased Klaus Wellmann, CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen. “Together with our partners the EOG, we are pleased to be able to offer a unique ambiance here in Friedrichshafen, where the world’s Outdoor industry can pave the way for economic success.”

David Udberg, president of the European Outdoor Group, also values the strong partnership with Messe Friedrichshafen.

“Collectively, Messe Friedrichshafen and the EOG have proven that they can build a first class event for the outdoor industry, an extended contract secures this for the coming years,” Udberg said.
“Partnerships of this quality are few and far between and we are immensely proud of what we have achieved together.”

Mark Held, secretary general of the EOG, agrees: “The renewal of our contract for the hosting of the OutDoor Trade Fair is a testament to the absolute confidence we have in our partnership with Messe Friedrichshafen. The partnership between the EOG and Messe Friedrichshafen has seen the OutDoor Trade Fair go from strength to strength, so it is natural for us to seal that partnership with a new, extended contract.”

The rise of the OutDoor from a small event with an modest future in 1994 to its current status of a mega-event with a worldwide impact (2011: 890 exhibitors from 40 countries, 21,520 industry visitors from 91 countries) was anything but a given.

“The vitality of the Outdoor business, our strong orientation towards the needs of the industry and the perfect setting for the trade show, with our proximity to nature, were important factors in this success” said OutDoor project manager Stefan Reisinger. In 2008, 47 member companies of the EOG voted to hold the OutDoor in Friedrichshafen through 2013. The new contract reinforces the industry’s commitment to the summer event held on the shores of Lake Constance.“
