“With the current COVID-19 crisis, improving public health is more important than ever,” said Andrew Wyant, president of ISSA. “According to the CDC, chronic health conditions such as obesity and Type 2 diabetes are closely linked to higher morbidity rates among those infected. I believe these are largely controllable through diet and exercise, and personal trainers are the right people to help.”
“Our goal at the ISSA is to train more personal trainers and fitness professionals with practical and useful tools, education and certification to provide the best fitness programs for their clients.”
The acquisition provides the ISSA with the largest number of National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited programs. The five NCCA-Accredited certifications added to the ISSA are Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Group Exercise Instructor, Certified Yoga Instructor, Certified Indoor Cycling Instructor, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Other courses added to the ISSA are specialty courses include Lifespan Fitness Coaching, Powerlifting, Kickboxing, Flexibility, and Weight Management, offering a total of 15 fitness certification programs worldwide.
“The COVID-19 crisis creates a current demand for the public to have trusted fitness professionals they can trust to lead them virtually. The crisis will pass in time and with it will come an even stronger focus on health and wellness” said Wyant. “Once gyms reopen, they’ll be filled with people looking to get back in shape after missing their normal fitness routines. Expanding our field of fitness education programs will fill that gap.”
