Fleet Feet is opening a new store in Somerville, NJ, on August 4, marking the company’s fifth Fleet Feet location in Northern New Jersey.
Teresa Councilor is assuming the role of operating partner. She also runs Fleet Feet stores in Westfield, Summit, Morristown, and Ridgewood, NJ, respectively, and brings nearly three years of experience in leadership to the Northern New Jersey market.
Fleet Feet reports that under her guidance, the region has seen steady growth, including a 10 percent year-over-year sales increase and consistently strong engagement in community training programs. Councilor’s leadership drives Fleet Feet’s regional success by combining retail expertise with deep local engagement.
“Somerville has a thriving running community that we’re excited to support and grow,” said Councilor. “Fleet Feet is about more than selling shoes. It’s about showing up for the people who show up for themselves. We want to be a place where movement is celebrated, goals are supported, and everyone feels like part of the family.”
Councilor began her career in specialty running retail as a high school track athlete. She advanced within Fleet Feet, managing several locations and, most recently, leading the transition of four JackRabbit stores to Fleet Feet.
The store will host a grand opening in early September.
