Half-Moon Outfitters, a member of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, celebrates the grand opening of its new location in Charleston, SC today, Nov. 19, with free festivities and donations to the Coastal Conservation League (CCL), and to The Nature Conservancy.

The retailer plans to donate 10% of their sales opening day to the non-profits. Free festivities will include: Free food by EVO and Med Bistro, free climbing for kids and musical performance by Hank Futch of the Blue Dogs. Charleston Mayor Joe Riley will cut a ceremonial Green ribbon at 5:15 pm.

Earlier this year, Half-Moon announced that it would open three new stores throughout 2008. Already open are locations in Athens and Atlanta, GA. The final new location is back in Charleston, SC where it all started for the retailer.

Half-Moon has built the largest and eighth store in a vacant movie theatre that once anchored the end of the decades old and venerable shopping center. The store is over 11,000 square feet and will feature the very climbing wall that was the centerpiece of this past winter’s Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City, Utah where the world’s best climbers displayed their skills.

Half-Moon Outfitters has been in business since 1993 and now operate nine locations in Greenville, Columbia, Charleston and Mt. Pleasant in South Carolina and Savannah, Athens and Atlanta in Georgia.
