According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds played in the US were down 14.7% in December compared to December 2008 and down 0.6% (-0.6%) for all of 2009 compared to 2008.
 
Public Access play was down 14.5% for the month and down 0.3% YTD.  Private course activity was down 15.0% for December and down 1.8% YTD.  A total of 3150 courses are represented in the report.

According to the report, the biggest declines in December came in South Central, down 30.9%; West North Central, 29.5%; South Atlantic, 19.3%; New England, 7.4%; East North Central, 4.6%; and Mountain, 1.5%. The one positive showing came in the Pacific region, up 4.1%.
