Amer Sports Appoints President of Apparel

Amer Sports appointed Vincent Wauters, currently general manager of Arc'teryx Inc., as president of Amer Sports apparel business and a member of
Amer Sports executive board. Wauters will continue to lead the Arc'teryx brand.

He will report to Amer Sports' President and CEO Heikki Takala. Amer Sports said Wauters has successfully been leading Arc'teryx since 2012. Before that, he was the senior vice president, Amer Sports Global Operations, and a member of the executive board.

“Over the past three years, Vincent has successfully led Arc'teryx with continuous acceleration in line with the company strategy. I am pleased to promote a strong leader like Vincent from our internal bench, as we continue to build capabilities to accelerate toward our ambitious longer term targets,” said Takala.

Andy Towne, previously president of apparel, will at the same time leave Amer Sports.

“I want to thank Andy for his positive contribution in building our Apparel business to today's intermediate stage with solid foundations and readiness for further acceleration,” said Takala.

Amer Sports brands include Salomon, Wilson, Atomic, Arc'teryx, Mavic, Suunto and Precor.

Amer Sports Appoints President of Apparel

In line with Amer Sports' new strategic priorities where the Group is targeting faster growth in softgoods and focusing on consumer-centric product creation, Amer Sports has appointed Andy Towne president of apparel and member of Amer Sports Executive Board, starting on Oct. 11, 2010.

Jean-Marc Pambet, currently president of apparel and footwear, will continue as president of footwear as well as president of Salomon. The appointment of Towne for the apparel leader position will allow Amer Sports to accelerate its growth plans in apparel, while the dedication of Pambet to Footwear will allow increased focus and faster expansion of the Group's footwear business, the company said.

Previously Andy Towne, 44, had been working as the CEO in Musto Ltd. Prior to that he has served at Reebok International Ltd. as vice president, marketing and product Europe and at Helly Hansen as vice president, global marketing and Product. Towne holds a MA degree from the University of Cambridge.

In September 2010, Amer Sports announced new strategic priorities. The strategy defines internal financial as well as synergy and scale targets for each unit in the Group portfolio. The strategy emphasizes faster growth in apparel and footwear, excellence in consumer-centric product creation and brand marketing, and strengthening commercial fundamentals through sales and channel management. Operational excellence continues to be a key cornerstone.

Amer Sports is pursuing faster growth in softgoods by moving to category-based development across brands to build scale in softgoods R&D, product line management, sourcing and manufacturing.

Amer's brands include Atomic, Wilson, Suunto, Precor, Salomon, Mavic and Arc'teryx.
