Adidas has opened a flagship online store (http://adidas.taobao.com/) on China's Taobao Mall, the business-to-consumer (B2C) platform within Taobao. The adidas store on Taobao Mall will be its only official online retail channel in China.

“We are proud to be partnering with Taobao for the official launch of our flagship adidas online store,” said Christophe Bezu, managing director of adidas Group in China. “This special initiative addresses our Chinese consumers' changing lifestyle needs and we will now be able to provide them with an official online shopping channel to purchase authentic and even exclusive products at their own convenience.”

“We firmly believe that the cooperation between adidas and Taobao Mall will bring about concrete benefits for consumers across China,” said Daniel Zhang, CFO of Taobao and general manager of Taobao Mall. “Taobao Mall is privileged to further enhance the online shopping experience for millions of Chinese consumers. This continued expansion of brand selection on Taobao Mall is key to our mission of providing authentic, quality products and services to our consumers.”

The adidas flagship online store on Taobao Mall will be directly operated by the adidas Group in China, and will carry the full range of adidas brands and product lines. More than 200 products will be available initially with plans to increase the product selection to 800 in the near future.

Launched in April 2008, Taobao Mall is the leading online business-to-consumer (B2C) platform for business retailers in China. Adidas joins the ranks of major brands such as Uniqlo, Proctor and Gamble, Lenovo, Dell, Li Ning, Kohler and Samsung, who have all launched official online retail storefronts on Taobao Mall.
