The SFIA Football Council, a committee of the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), announced the selection of David Hill of Rawlings as chairperson of the council for 2014 and 2015. Chuck Huggins of Xenith was selected as vice chairperson for the same period.

“I am pleased to have been selected as Chairperson to lead the SFIA Football Council,” said Hill. “It’s a critical period for our industry as we face the challenges of player safety and efforts to grow the participation trends. Over the course of my term, I will work with my fellow council members to ensure that we achieve goals that benefit the entire football industry.”

“David's background in the industry and in the sport of football, having earned four varsity letters at Texas Tech, gives him great perspective on the challenges of today's football market,” said SFIA President and CEO Tom Cove. “The SFIA Football Council has an ambitious agenda and the right leadership to accomplish its objectives.”

David is supported in his efforts by Vice Chairperson Chuck Huggins. Huggins is president and CFO of Xenith, having been with the company since it commercially launched its football helmet line in 2009. Prior to joining Xenith, Chuck worked for Kazmaier Associates, Inc.

“I am pleased to have the platform to work on some of the most difficult issues facing the sport of football,” said Huggins. “It is imperative the industry come together to address the issues of player safety, growing participation, and maintaining appropriate equipment standards.”

The goal of the SFIA Football Council is to promote the growth and continued playing of football at all levels of the sport in the safest and most enjoyable environment for the athlete possible.
