EXEC: Nike, Inc. Forcing Australia’s SurfStitch Into Liquidation June 29, 2025 SGB Executive by SGB Media SurfStitch, reportedly Australia’s leading online surf and fashion retailer, fell into voluntary administration in June 2025 after Nike Australia filed a “winding-up” order – a court order that forces a company into liquidation – against the retailer. SurfStitch, primarily functioning as an online retailer, curates and sells a wide range of apparel, footwear, swimwear, accessories, and gear for surf, skate and snow sports from various brands, including Nike, Inc. According to multiple reports from Australia, Nike claims SurfStitch owes it $237,760 and is demanding that the company be placed into liquidation. Edwin Narayan and Domenic Calabretta of Mackay Goodwin, a Sydney-based corporate restructuring and advisory firm, were appointed as administrators earlier this month to sort out the retailer’s finances. Established in 2007, SurfStitch fell into administration in 2010 before being acquired by retail group Alquemie, then known as Alceon Retail Bidco. The company’s website has reportedly been offline for several weeks. The site states, “Sorry, our site is currently undergoing maintenance. We expect to be back soon. Thanks for your patience.” Image courtesy SurfStitch
