VF Corp. will close a printing company it bought through its takeover
of Majestic Athletic, leading to the layoff of 80 employees. VF bought
family-owned Majestic Athletic in February.
A VF official told the Associate Press that the company plans to close RP Printing in
six to nine months. Employees have been told, but no firm date has been
set for the closing, the company said.
RP Printing is a screen printing company that makes Major League
Baseball-licensed T-shirts and fleece clothing. Its plant is in Egypt,
a village just north of Allentown. The work done by RP will be
reassigned to other VF plants in the United States, particularly one in
Tampa, FL.
