The USASA (United State of America Snowboard and Freeski Association) appointed Ed “Eddie” Santos as its new executive director. Following a national search for a new executive director, Santos emerged as the right person to guide the next chapter of USASA’s history.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the USASA, I am delighted to welcome Eddie Santos as the new Executive Director,” said President John Schaal. “His wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership in marketing and social media campaigns are just some of the skills that we look to draw from.”
As executive director of USASA, Santos will oversee an organization that recruits, builds and guides structure to thousands of young avid snowboarders and freestyle skiers in regional series that cross 40 states. 31 regional series are established in the USASA from Coast to Coast!
“It’s an honor to join the USASA. Having worked side by side, with founder Chuck Allen from 1996 through his passing in 2011, building his work of this organization is needed more now than ever,” Santos said. “USASA has had a huge impact on the snowboard and free ski community and the kids and adults we serve. I look forward to continuing the growth and accomplishments of the organization.”
A native of Southern California, Santos brings with him over 25 years of expertise in evolving leadership and communication in creative marketing and branding. His background in the action sports industry includes Vision Street Wear, Black Flys Eyewear, as well as more than 12 years as director of marketing for Wahoo’s Fish Taco. His involvement in countless numbers of nonprofit and fundraising projects include many big names such as Monster Energy, Vans, B4BC as well as over 10 years fundraising for USASA with Chuck Allen and Wing Lam.
