The North Face Names Hilaree Nelson Captain Of Global Athlete Team

The North Face announced that ski mountaineer and long-time athlete Hilaree Nelson will serve as captain for the Global Athlete Team. Conrad Anker currently holds the position and will serve as co-captain with Nelson through the remainder of 2018, before Nelson fully transitions to team captain in 2019.

June Retail Sales Up 4.2 Percent Over 2017

June retail sales were up 0.07 percent seasonally adjusted from May’s strong performance and increased 4.2 percent unadjusted year-over-year as economic growth continued despite the U.S. trade war with China and other countries, the National Retail Federation said Monday. The numbers exclude automobiles, gasoline stations and restaurants.

OIA: Bikes, Backpacks And Gloves Could Face 10 Percent Tariff

Wrote Rich Harper, manager of international trade at OIA, in a note to members, “Backpacks, sports bags, bikes and gloves – essential gear for many outdoor activities–already face import tariffs as high as 20 percent. Additional tariffs will only raise costs for outdoor companies and consumers and threaten the growth of the outdoor recreation economy that supports 7.6 million American jobs.”

Accell Group Fully Acquires Velosophy

Accell Group announced that the company has increased the company’s minority stake in Velosophy B.V. to 100 percent. Dutch company Velosophy is a fast-growing player in e-cargo bike solutions for consumers and the business market.
