United Sporting Companies, the recently formed holding company for Ellett Brothers, LLC and Jerry’s Sport Center Inc., has made two  announcements regarding its management team.

Firstly, Berne Ziomek has announced his retirement from JSC after building the company for over 50 years. Second, USC has announced the reorganization of the management team that will add depth of expertise and streamline operations for each operating subsidiary.

– Hewitt Grant was named CEO of USC and has been assigned overall leadership responsibility for the strategic direction and growth of both businesses.

– Steven Margolius has joined USC as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, reporting to Mr. Grant. He was most recently Group President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electrical and Plumbing divisions of HD Supply, one of the nation’s largest wholesale distribution companies. Headquartered in Orlando, Mr. Margolius was responsible for leading over 2,000 associates in 150 sales and distribution locations across the U.S. He will head up all Ellett and JSC operational and information technology functions.

– Andy Kupchik will continue to serve as President of JSC.

– Charles Walker was named National Sales Manager and Senior Vice President of USC and will coordinate the sales activities and strategies of each subsidiary. Mr. Walker will work closely with Mr. Grant and the sales managers at each of the company’s seven facilities.

– Robert Hine has been named Director of Operations for JSC. He will continue to serve as Vice President and General Manager of JSC’s Forrest City location.

– James McCrudden was named Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of USC.

– Sandy Yastremski of JSC will be named Vice President of Finance at USC, as will Matthew Winter and Mark Rhoden who will be responsible for Financial Planning and Analysis.

Mr. Grant said, “Our new management structure will better position Ellett and JSC to provide the highest quality products, service, and sales and marketing support to our customers. In particular, we are pleased to welcome Steve Margolius who brings a deep operational and financial background to the organization as well as substantial integration expertise and leadership. While Berne’s retirement is a loss for the company, we are confident that Andy Kupchik, Bob Hine and the other members of the JSC team are well suited to carry on Berne’s legacy.”

Mr. Ziomek said, “After 50 years in the industry, I have elected to step aside and let the next generation of JSC and Ellett employees lead and drive the business to even higher levels. The addition of Steve Margolius to the USC family of companies will solidify this team as the strongest in the industry. I am confident that both companies will maintain the excellent level of service our customers have come to expect and that we will continue to be the first choice for our supplier partners. As a significant shareholder in the company and a long-time friend of the employees, I wish them the best in the future.”

William F. Dawson, Jr., Chairman of USC’s Board of Directors said, “The addition of Steve complements the existing team who together will ultimately drive performance as the company continues to lead this industry. We thank Berne for all he has done to build JSC into what it is today and for the great efforts he has made to support its employees over the years.”
