The Walking Co. plans to expand its social networking presence through a new blog and on Facebook and Twitter. The social media outlets for The Walking Company will serve as a public forum for discussion between the comfort shoe retailer and its customers.

“As our customer base continues to grow it is a priority for us to maintain familiarity and communication with our customers,” said Michael Walker, vice president of marketing and ecommerce for The Walking Company. “Like us, our customers are passionate about health and intelligent footwear choices. Our blog, Facebook page and Twitter account provide more opportunities for us to dialog with our customers, enabling us to better hear their feedback, their stories and personally address their questions.”

The new blog scheduled to launch in February will share posts about foot health, walking and exercise, travel, fashion, The Walking Company products and the technology behind them, and the latest news from the company. Every post to the blog will be open for discussion through the comments box at the bottom of each post.

The Walking Company Facebook page is open for customers' to share information, ask questions and review products. Page visitors also have the ability to post photos of their The Walking Company shoes to the page's wall. Finally, through its Twitter account – @TheWalkingCo – The Walking Company will share relevant information and links to articles about health, exercise, footwear technology, fashion and travel. The Walking Company will announce promotions, sales, and events first through social media.

The Walking Company operates 212 stores in premium malls across the nation and the company's online store.
