The Center for Accountability in Science (CAS) released the results of a new survey showing most Americans cannot pass a high school health class.

The national survey, conducted by ORC International, asked 1,024 adults a series of 10 questions covering food and nutrition.

Only one out of 10 questions were answered correctly by a majority of respondents.

62 percent of Americans mistakenly believe the Food and Drug Administration has defined the term “superfoods,” and around 91 percent of Americans think “Certified Organic’” produce is grown using only natural techniques or without any synthetic materials.

Additionally, 41 percent of Americans know scientific bodies from all developed nations have said genetically modified foods (GMOs) are safe.

Dr. Joseph Perrone, chief science officer of CAS, said the increase in misconceptions is partially due to TV doctors and the rise in “pseudoscientists,” adding that these people are distorting health facts for ratings.
