Stearns Acquires Watermark’s Inflatable PFD Business…

WaterMark is selling its inflatable PFD business to K2 Inc’s Stearns division. Stearns has acquired all of the assets of the inflatable personal flotation device business including the SOS and SOSPENDERS brands and all warranty responsibility for the products.

“STEARNS is well established in the PFD market, with distribution systems and customer service already in place to serve SOSPENDERS retailers and customers. Stearns will honor the published warranty for the SOS products they acquired,” said Jim Clark, CEO of WaterMark. “We identified several adjustments to our business model necessary to accelerate our long-term growth. This move will serve to increase the focus on our two core businesses-land sports and water sports, specifically on racks and boats.”

Watermark recently re-located its landsports business and administrative offices to Portland, OR, also in an effort to reach their strategic growth goals. In an interview with SEW’s sister publication, The B.O.S.S. Report, Clark said that his company has a target of modest double digit growth through acquisitions, product extensions and organic growth.
