Reebok said the location of its new home in the city of Boston will be at 25 Drydock Avenue in Boston’s Seaport District. In November, Reebok announced it was moving from its current location in Canton, MA.
Occupying 220,000 square feet of space on five floors in The Innovation & Design Building, the new Reebok headquarters will house approximately 700 employees. The location will feature a two-floor 30,000-square-foot gym with a CrossFit box, multiple studio spaces, a boxing ring and other fitness center amenities. In addition, Reebok plans to create a one-mile running track around the facility for public use.
The new location will also feature a farm-to-table cafe and an 8,000-square-foot Reebok FitHub retail store, both of which will also be open to the public. Other amenities will include personal trainers, onsite dietician, acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy and other employee services.
Reebok President Matt O’Toole said, “Our vision is to bring ‘The Home of Fitness,’ which we’ve created at our Canton HQ, to this new location. We have a goal of being the fittest, healthiest workplace in the country, and this new location will go a long way in helping us achieve this goal. It will be a workplace unlike any other in the city, with amenities that will not only benefit our employees, but the local community as well.”
O’Toole continued, “Our new workspace will improve our performance, speed innovation and create a vibrant collaborative culture. It will allow us to be closely connected to the broader innovation and design community in Boston, and not in a traditional cloistered corporate environment, which can inhibit creativity. We’re creating the workplace of the future.”
It is the community aspect of this move to Boston that O’Toole is particularly excited about. “Our goal is to not only provide a great environment for our employees, but for the people of Boston as well,” he said. “We believe in the power of community – and more specifically the power of community fitness. We are committed to bringing the passion we have for fitness to the local community and inviting people to join us on our mission to get people moving.”
In addition to providing the fitness facilities and services to its employees and the local community, O’Toole said Reebok’s vision is to join and collaborate with the makers, designers, architects, innovators and entrepreneurs who currently occupy The Innovation & Design Building.
“One of the aspects that appealed to us was the incredibly innovative culture that is so apparent when you visit the space,” said O’Toole. “We hope to add to this spirit of innovation, and look forward to collaborating with our new neighbors. I know this environment will inspire our people, and I hope we can inspire those around us as well.”
To do this, Reebok will be creating a ‘Makers Lab,’ visible to the public, which will provide a window into the next generation of footwear and apparel creation techniques, and will give visitors a peak at Reebok’s product testing and prototyping labs.
“Reebok’s decision to move their headquarters to the Seaport is another example of how Boston is attracting innovative, global companies that are invested in making our City a better place,” said Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “I welcome Reebok to Boston, and look forward to engaging with them about how we can ensure all Bostonians lead healthy, active lifestyles.”
Reebok expects to be in the new Boston location by next fall.
