Reebok International Ltd., a division of Adidas, said it laid off approximately 300 employees in North America and Latin America.


“Today we began a restructuring of our organization which has impacted approximately 300 employees in North America and in Latin America,” said Uli Becker, Reebok president and CEO, in a statement. “With the current economic conditions and the realities of our business, we have taken the necessary steps to bring our cost structure in line with our 2009 targets. This is a difficult day for all of us.  I want to publicly thank our employees for their years of service and dedication to the company.”


 


According to the Reebok, a total of 240 jobs are impacted in North Ameica. Areas affected:



  • Canton, MA (HQ): 101 from a headcount of 1200;
  • Cedar Rapids, IA : 12 from a headcount of 180;
  • Indianapolis, IN. 65 from a headcount of 950;
  • Montreal, Canada: 60 from a headcount of 60;
  • Mattaposit, MA : 12 from a headcount 125.

 Sixty jobs out of 600 are being impacted in Latin America, principally in Mexico.
