Kohl's Corp. and Quiksilver, Inc. jointly announced the signing of a license agreement under which Quiksilver would grant exclusive rights to the Tony Hawk clothing brand to Kohl's. The license encompasses a range of apparel and related products, including outerwear and accessories, for both the boys and young men's categories. The goods are expected to hit the floor in all Kohl's stores and Kohls.com beginning in the spring of 2006. Quiksilver, Inc. will be responsible for product design and Kohl's will manage sourcing, distribution, marketing and all other functions.

This agreement is the latest in a series of recognizable, fashionable brands to move into mid-market, following such predecessors as Mossimo in Target, Starter in Wal-Mart, and, of course, Martha Stewart in K-Mart.

>>> A good move for Hawk, probably the only member of the action sports community who doesn’t have to worry about being ‘core’. Maybe even less edgy than Martha who has more street cred after doing time at the big house…
