Boulder, CO, February 2020 – mountainFLOW, the innovative Colorado company that has revolutionized the ski wax industry with its line of groundbreaking eco-friendly products, claimed three awards at the  2020 Outdoor Retailer Snow Show in Denver last week, highlighted by the coveted Gear of the Show award from Outside.

mountainFLOW also picked up the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award as well as the Best New Gear award from Gear Institute, a network of the best outdoor gear testers in America.

Launched in 2016 with the mission of providing a simple and eco-friendly way to improve the skiing experience and offer an alternative to environmentally harmful petroleum-based waxes, mountainFLOW specializes in skin waxes and plant-based glide waxes.

The Carbondale-based company has become the leading plant-based ski wax in North America, with products available online and in retail outlets nationwide. Its products have also been featured recently in prominent industry outlets such as Popular Mechanics, Men’s Journal, Business Insider, Backcountry, Ski and Gear Patrol.

“People have been stoked on the story behind mountainFLOW since the beginning, but now that the product has been in the market and people are skiing on it and the feedback keeps coming back that the performance is amazing, that’s what people are really looking for,” said mountainFLOW founder and CEO Peter Arlein.

“The chemicals in ski wax are a huge topic right now, and I think people recognize that we’ve developed a great product to help solve the problem. To receive these awards after only a few months on the market is amazing.”

mountainFLOW’s honor from Outside puts the brand in select company. Past winners of Outside’s Gear of the Show award include Garmin, Leatherman and Therm-a-Rest.

The Gear of Show winners are picked by votes among our editorial staff from the hundreds of products that brands put up for nomination,” Outside said in a statement. “These items are what we’re most excited about for the upcoming season.”
