Shoe Carnival’s Athletic Mix Expands To 53 Percent Of Sales In 2017
Shoe Carnival Inc. said athletic product represented 53 percent of sales in 2017, up from 51 percent in 2016. Nike accounted for 35 percent of its sales in 2017, up from 33 percent.
Nike Again Ranks As Most Valuable Apparel Brand
Nike again led Brand Finance’s annual listing of the world’s most valuable apparel brands, although it lost some value since last year. Rounding out the top ten were H&M, Zara, Adidas, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Gucci, Uniqlo and Rolex.

Active Brands Owed Money In Bon-Ton’s Bankruptcy
Under Armour is owed $1,4 million in the bankruptcy of Bon-Ton Stores. Others in the active space with large unpaid bills include Hanesbrands, Perry Ellis, Skechers and Deckers Brands.

Lululemon, Nike, REI And Adidas Land On Best Employers List
Lululemon was the highest-ranked retailer in Glassdoor’s “2018 Best Places to Work” survey for U.S. companies. Lululemon was ranked 6. Other companies in the active space making the top-100 list included Nike, ranked 53; REI, 61; and Adidas, 93.
Athletic Brands Showing Momentum In Cowen’s Holiday Survey
In Cowen’s second annual Holiday Brand Survey, athletic brands largely led in shopping preference over non-athletic brand choices, similar to last year. Nike came in first, at 34 percent, followed by Under Armour and Adidas at 25 percent each, Victoria’s Secret at 23 percent, The North Face at 22 percent and Columbia and Skechers at 20 percent each.
TRE 2017 Draws Record Retail Attendance
A total of 2,629 industry professionals attended the conference and trade show in Austin, TX, representing a 3.5 percent increase in total attendance over 2016.
