Samsonite’s Debt Ratings Upgraded By S&P

S&P Global Ratings upgraded the debt ratings of Samsonite International S.A. to ‘BB-‘ from ‘B+’ as the luggage company’s sales recovered through the first half of fiscal 2022, and modest continued global travel upside is expected to improve performance through 2023.

Downlight Outdoor Expands Canadian Processing Facility

Downlite Outdoor, a division of Downlite, a down and feather processor and supplier of responsibly sourced performance fills to the outdoor, home furnishings, and hospitality markets, expanded its facility by 50 percent in Mississauga, Canada.

August RV Shipments Slide

Results for the RV Industry Association’s August 2022 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 33,783 units, a decrease of 36.0 percent compared to the 52,819 units shipped in August 2021.

Eddie Bauer Appoints CEO

Sparc Group announced that Tim Bantle is joining the company as CEO of Eddie Bauer. Most recently, Bantle was GM of VF Canada, leading the company’s local outdoor and action sports platform. Before VF Canada, Bantle held leadership positions at The North Face, Black Diamond Equipment and Patagonia.

IBEX 2022 Cancelled Due To Severe Weather

The International BoatBuilders Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) has been canceled due to threats from Hurricane Ian. The event had been scheduled to take place at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL from September 27-29.

Bass Pro Plans Store For Grand Prairie, TX

Bass Pro Shops announced plans to open a store in Grand Prairie, TX, serving the southern portion of the Dallas metro area. The 100,000-square-foot store, expected to open in the spring of 2024, will be the outdoor retailer’s fifth location in the region and 15th in Texas.

Yeti’s CFO Resigns

Yeti Holdings, Inc. announced the resignation of its chief financial officer, Paul Carbone, effective October 28, 2022. Carbone is returning to Boston to pursue a business opportunity and be closer to family.
