nuun has hired Will Garratt – most recently of GU Sports – to direct the company’s sales and marketing efforts. Garratt’s experience in consumer products, including the sports nutrition products category, spans fifteen years, and includes strategic planning, market research, and execution of sales and marketing directives.

“nuun already makes the undisputed, number one flavored electrolyte tablet in the eyes of endurance athletes,” said Garratt. “nuun is a brand with buzz that will be heightened as we build sales and service programs that support our specialty retailers, their sports and events and the athlete-customers that fuel the market.”

For the past four years, Garratt served as Vice President of Marketing for Sports Street Marketing, better known as GU Sports, which manufactures sports nutrition products. At GU, Garratt positioned the brand and its products to achieve record revenue growth and, in the process, set a new industry standard for consumer loyalty, brand recognition and marketing innovation.

Prior to GU, Garratt served as partner at Adventures In Thinking, a strategic planning and creative design firm, where he is credited with successfully managing large-scale market research projects for major brands such as Nike and Quiksilver and driving profitable company and brand realignments for scores of smaller, consumer product companies. Additionally, Garratt directed the individual sport silos for No Fear, Inc. the $150M+ casual sports apparel manufacturer. At No Fear he identified key market opportunities and strategies, executed marketing plans, directed product development, and grew the silos to $20M in profitable revenue.
