Organizational Finance veteran Dan Wiersma has joined the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA)  as its new chief financial officer. Prior to joining NSGA, Wiersma served as CFO for the Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago, as Finance Director for the Village of Glenview, Illinois, and as Finance Director for the City of Wheaton, Illinois.

Earlier in his career, he worked as a Vice President at Municipal Services Corporation (partially owned by Flatland, Hinners & Company),  as a Budget Analyst with the Ohio Office of Budget and Management, and as an Executive Aide with the South Dakota Bureau of Finance and Management.

Dan comes to us with a wealth of experience helping organizations manage their financial affairs, NSGA President & CEO Matt Carlson said. We are happy to welcome Dan to the NSGA team and look forward to his contributions toward NSGA achieving its strategic aspirations.

Wiersma is a graduate of the Maxwell Graduate School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and Hope College in Holland, Michigan.  He has also served as Chairman of the High Excess Liability Pool (HELP) Board of Directors, a member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association Conference and Legislative Committees, and a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

Wiersma fills the staff vacancy at NSGA created by the retirement of former Chief Financial Officer Dick Schascheck.  Wed like to thank Dick for his efforts and wish him well in retirement, Carlson said.
