The National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) Board of Directors has elected officers to two-year terms that commence on June 1, 2006.

Bruce Ullery, President & CEO of MC Sports, Grand Rapids, Mich., was elected Chairman. Previously, Ullery had been Chairman-Elect, and has served on the board since 2002. In addition, Ron Kruse, President of Hayden’s Athletic, Montgomery, Ill., will serve as Past Chairman and retain a seat on the Board of Directors for a two-year term.

NSGA members chose two new Directors in elections held earlier in the spring. Curt Munson, President of Playmakers, Inc., Okemos, Mich., will represent members in District III (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin), and Buddie Clendenin, Assistant General Manager of The Sport Mart, Inc., Charleston, W.Va., will represent District VI (Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia).

The Board of Directors elected three Directors At Large: Bob Dickman, President of Kesslers Team Sports, Richmond, Ind.; Jeff Rosenthal, Vice President of Merchandising, Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc., Birmingham, Ala.; and Joe Wood, President, Famous Footwear, Madison, Wis.

“Bruce Ullery is going to be an excellent Chairman,” said NSGA President & CEO Jim Faltinek. “Bruce knows the sporting goods industry and has been an active and effective member of the Board of Directors for four years.

“The new Directors represent a broad cross-section of the sporting goods industry, including large and small full-line retail, team, and specialty retail,” Faltinek said. “I am confident that these new officers and directors will continue the dedicated work of their predecessors.”

Clendenin replaces Corky Fulton, SageSport, Kings Mountain, N.C., who has served the maximum two three-year terms. Also retiring from the Board is At-Large Director Randy Ruch, Schuylkill Valley Sports, Pottstown, Pa., who has completed his second term.
