Newcastle United, the U.K. soccer club, is planning to announce a new kit  deal with Puma, ending a 14-year relationship with adidas, according to various sources.

According to the Daily Express, Adidas's departure was prompted by the negative publicity that has been swirling around the club since the take over by Mike Ashley, the head of Sports Direct. Adidas said The company does not want to be connected in any way with Ashley’s proposal to rename St James’ Park. In November, Ashley's group announced intentions to sell the naming rights to the stadium.
