At an Earth Day event at the White House on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said the country will reopen the national parks but didn’t give any details about guidelines that will be enacted around concerns over the spread of coronavirus.
“Thanks to our significant progress against the invisible enemy, I am pleased to announce that in line with my administration’s guidelines for opening up America again we will begin to reopen our national parks and public lands for the American people to enjoy,” Trump said at the event.
Many, but not all, parks have closed in recent weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Look for parks to open as the states in which they are located relax their social distancing guidelines and lift stay-at-home orders.
SGB will have more details as they become available.
