Sport Chalet, Inc. will host National Geographic Emerging Explorer Juan Martinez for an exclusive in-store event at the FIGat7th location in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Martinez will speak about his mission to reconnect people with the great outdoors, advocating the value of an active lifestyle. The event is open to the public and free to attend.

“Martinez is spearheading a revolution across Los Angeles, inspiring people to discover and engage with the city's outdoor surroundings,” said David Hacker, Marketing Director of Sport Chalet. “At Sport Chalet, we encourage young athletes to explore new activities and adventures, which is why we believe in creating a platform for Martinez to share his story with the community. It's people like him who remind us of the beauty in our environment and his words have the potential to create a life-changing moment.”

Martinez, a South Central Los Angeles native, made the life-defining choice to join Eco Club when he was just 15 years old, igniting his passion for environmentalism and keeping him from following his peers to the streets. Now as an active national spokesperson, Martinez champions the importance of getting youth outdoors, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. His interests currently take him from participating in White House forums to leading inner-city kids on wilderness adventures. Martinez works tirelessly with several local and national organizations to build supportive communities and inspire millennials to take action and reconnect with nature.

The exclusive event will take place on Aug. 10, at the FIGat7th store, located at 735 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90017. For more information, please visit www.sportchalet.com.
