Mountain Safety Research (MSR), a manufacturer of premium, high-performance outdoor equipment since 1969, appointed Doug Sanders as category director for stoves. In his new role, Sanders will oversee all facets of product research, development and go-to-market strategies for the brand’s stove category, which includes stove systems like the WindBurner, ultra-lite designs including the MicroRocket, along with the more classic WhisperLite and XGK series. Sanders will also work on new introductions in the coming seasons.

Sanders brings more than 18 years of outdoor product management experience to his new role. He most recently served as Senior Product Director for Snowboarding with K2 Sports, where he oversaw the snowboard, boot and binding categories for the global company. He initially cut his engineering teeth at Boeing before joining K2.

“MSR has the most comprehensive stove offering on the market. They don’t have a good, better best solution but, rather, they make the most innovative products designed for different types of users in the field,” Sanders said. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with a company that focuses so clearly on engineering the highest quality products on the market. I’m excited to help uphold that reputation and further the stove offering for a range of outdoor enthusiasts.”

Sanders has jumped right in and is working alongside MSR’s engineers, executive team and marketers at the MSR headquarters and manufacturing facility in Seattle, WA.

Seattle-based MSR has fostered a commitment to quality manufacturing and innovation, ensuring customers are outfitted with the most reliable gear available for outdoor adventures. MSR product lines include stoves, fuel, cookware, water treatment and hydration systems, shelters, snowshoes, snow tools and backcountry poles.  The majority of MSR products are made in the company’s Seattle, U.S.A. and Cork, Ireland manufacturing facilities.
