MidwayUSA, an online retailer of for shooting, hunting and the outdoors, recently hosted an independent Board of Examiners from the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program for a three-day site visit at their facility in Columbia, MO.
After their Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award application passed an initial screening earlier in the year, MidwayUSA was the only organization, in the small business category, selected to receive a Baldrige site visit in 2015. Examiners were welcomed on site to verify and clarify achievements and improvements MidwayUSA reported in their application.
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is presented annually by the President of the United States to businesses – manufacturing and service, small and large – and to education, health care and nonprofit organizations that apply and are judged to be outstanding in the seven Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence: leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce; operations; and results. Over the last 27 years, only 23 organizations have received an award in the small business category. A recipient of the 2009 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, MidwayUSA recognizes the application process as a Leadership and Development opportunity for Employees, and for the MidwayUSA organization as a whole, in alignment with their continued pursuit of performance excellence. It is important to note, past award recipients are not eligible to apply for the award for five full years after receipt.
About the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program
