Klein’s All Sports, an Upstate New York regional sporign goods mainstay for 56 years, will be going out of business and closing its 12 stores in the near future. The sale of all inventory in all 12 stores is underway and will continue until all inventory has been completely sold off.
The decision to close was not an easy one for Andrew Klein, President. His father founded the chain in 1948. Neal Klein was the CEO of the company during the 1980s until the mid-1990s and was instrumental in growing the retail stores. Andrew has run the company for the last 8 years.
“This was an extremely difficult decision and a sad day for us. Earlier this week I spoke to the home office and the store employees and thanked them for their tireless efforts on behalf of Klein’s. Unfortunately we were not able to continue based on difficulty with financing and market conditions.”
Andy also noted that as part of the inventory sale process, new discounts of at least 30% off everything in all 12 stores will be taken beginning Thursday, 12/16. The store’s current sales staff will be retained for the event in order to continue providing knowledgeable advice and assistance to the customers.
For consumers, the timing of this sale is a boon for holiday shopping and for stocking up in general. All 12 Klein’s stores are packed with the top brands in sporting goods, footwear and clothing, including such well-known manufacturers as Nike, Adidas, Salomon, Burton, North Face, Timberland, Columbia, Under Armour and more.
“The sale of our inventory at these great discounts is really our way of saying thanks to the shoppers and the communities that have supported us for the past 56 years. It’s very rare that youll find this much product on sale at these discounts levels,” said Andy. “I think everyone who comes in is going to be amazed at the selection and prices.”
