The Good Housekeeping Institute named the Kelty Juniper as the best back-to-school backpack for 2005.

As detailed in the September 2005 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine, the Institute tested 19 packs at their testing facility in New York City. The Kelty Juniper stood out above all competitors for its durability, comfort, and style.

“Looking for a backpack that will last no matter how much abuse it takes?,” reads the article. “Our favorite: The Kelty Juniper.”

In addition to appearing in Good Housekeeping magazine, the Juniper was touted by the publication's editor on an August 17 broadcast of Good Morning America (ABC)

“For back-to-school packs, it doesn't get any better than the approval of Good Housekeeping Institute,” said Kenny Ballard, president of Kelty.

The Kelty Juniper features padded and curved shoulder straps as well as an easy-grab carry handle. It weighs just 1 lb., 2 oz., and carries up to 1400 cubic inches of notebooks and school supplies.

Protected by a Kelty lifetime warranty, the Juniper is constructed of durable polyester oxford, sleek and strong nylon, and fully taped seams to support even the largest loads.

Two main compartments include an organizational pocket that takes care of the little things, and an exterior “stash” pocket that serves up quick access to the essentials.

The Juniper also appeals to the iPod generation, with an audio-player “attic” pocket and an easy-access headphone port.

The Juniper is available in charcoal with either slate blue, silver, or green chili highlights.
