All sales, marketing, and product development operations of the K2 Snow apparel brand have fully transitioned from K2 Sports in Vashon, Wash., to operate under Marmot in Santa Rosa, Calif. K2 Inc. acquired Marmot in 2004, enabling the company to establish an apparel and softgoods platform that would be able to create product for all of K2 Inc.’s brands.

“Marmot has developed industry-leading technical apparel and softgoods for more than 30 years,” said Anthony De Rocco, K2 Sport’s global marketing VP. “K2 Inc. recognized Marmot’s core competencies when it acquired the company last year and now is building the organization’s apparel business around Marmot’s design, manufacturing, sales, visual merchandising, and marketing operations.”

During a conference call with analysts and the media last month, K2 Inc.’s CEO, Dick Heckman, said that the outerwear platform was in place on the design development side, with K2 Freestyle, Volkl, and Marker Ski branded apparel already under the Marmot umbrella, while Ride snowboard apparel was “expected shortly.” In addition, ExOfficio is working with Stearns to create their line of BuzzOff apparel.

In other Marmot news, the company named Jill Nickels sales coordinator to direct K2 Snow sales operations in the U.S. In addition she will personally manage sales programs in California and Nevada.
