Johnson Outdoors Inc. recently received military orders totaling $11.2 million with anticipated delivery in the first half of calendar 2008.  The recent orders came as the company’s Binghamton, New York tent manufacturing operation was ramping down production in anticipation of completion of existing military orders.  A ten-week ramp-up period is required before production against new military orders can begin.

In order to maintain current job levels and retain its highly skilled workforce during this pre-production ramp-up period, the company has asked manufacturing employees to move to a three-day work week beginning October 8th until production against new orders begins.

“We are grateful for the support we have received from Congress, particularly that of Senators Clinton and Kohl, and Congressmen Hinchey and Ryan, which is helping to assure the protection of U.S. troops and American jobs,” said Helen Johnson-Leipold, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
