Acorn Products Co., a seller of slippers, socks and comfort footwear based in Lewiston, Maine, has been sold to Totes Isotoner, the leading seller of umbrellas. The purchase price was not disclosed.

“The company's passion for innovative design and comfortable, high quality products makes Acorn a natural fit with our Footwear business and Totes Isotoner,” said Totes Isotoner President and Chief Executive Officer Doug Gernert. “We're very excited to welcome Acorn to our company, and look forward to growing together in the years ahead.”

“As part of Totes Isotoner, we are now a company with a global footprint, providing a line of products to customers and consumers well beyond what we've been capable of in the past,” said Acorn President and Chief Executive Officer John Donnelly. “We believe that joining Totes Isotoner will strengthen our collective businesses and help us serve our customers with a broader range of products, an enhanced supply chain, and other operating capabilities.”

Donnelly added that Acorn will continue operating from the company's Lewiston offices. The company employs 25 people.

Acorn, which is known for making a slipper-sock, was launched in 1976 by founder David Quinn.

Totes Isotoner, based in Cincinnati, says it is the world's largest marketer of umbrellas, gloves, slippers and other weather-related accessories.
