scottishathletics and jogscotland are proud to announce that with effect from 1st September 2005 they have signed an exclusive contract with Hi-Tec Sports for athletics apparel and footwear, through to the end of 2010.
Under the agreement, Hi-Tec will kit out all Scottish international teams, including the track and field athletes for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006 and New Delhi 2010. The company will also supply footwear to each member of the Scotland team, in all sports, in Melbourne next year.
With regard to jogscotland Hi-Tec will become a major sponsor of the scheme, supplying apparel to jog leaders and scheme members and will also support the fast-growing and highly popular jogscotland 5k Challenges.
A unique element of the contract will enable scottishathletics to actively support the grass roots of the athletics community with direct help to nominated coaches, officials and club athletes. In 2006, it is envisaged that 20 officials, 20 coaches (level 3 and above) and 20 clubs will be invited to nominate a deserving individual to receive Hi-Tec apparel and footwear, with this figure rising steadily in each year of the contract.
There will be additional benefits to all members of both scottishathletics and its recreational arm jogscotland through special promotions on Hi-Tec footwear and apparel and offering preferential terms on club kit orders for Scottish clubs.
A range of exclusive athletics merchandise for retail will also be generated by Hi-Tec for scottishathletics and jogscotland. The first of the competition apparel is expected to be available in December and a photo launch of Scotland Commonwealth Games racing strip is anticipated in November.
Alistair Currie, jogscotland Manager said, “Recently I got a preview of the new Hi-Tec 4:SYS cushioning system and was really impressed with the quality and value that these new shoes offer. jogscotland is growing fast across the country and the new deal with Hi-Tec will help support our work and offer a real benefit for our members, many of whom are new to running and need help and guidance in choosing the correct footwear.”
Tony Linford, Global Marketing Director of Hi-Tec Sports commented, “In 2006 Hi-Tec will return to the technical running market with a new range of performance shoes, building on the heritage of the legendary Silver Shadow design combined with 21st Century technology. To launch this there was no better choice than to partner with scottishathletics, who have consistently been leading in innovative ideas to grow and develop both athletics and recreational running”
