Five Ten is now taking applications for the 2013 Core Awards in Climbing. The Five Ten Core Award is designed to support young athletes who embrace adventure and push their personal limits. This series focuses on aspiring young climbers; the Core Award application process for Mountain Biking will be announced in late July.
Five Ten will honor four recipients and award them each $400. The money is intended to help with gym fees, coaching, training, or travel costs. Winners will also receive a 1-year contract on Five Ten’s Youth Team. Recipients will be chosen based on the quality of application material, climbing achievement, contribution to the sport and development as a role model.
Five Ten Core Award winners will be announced in August 2013. All applications must be submitted by July 12th, 2013. Athletes must be 19 years old or younger when application is submitted.
The winners of the 2012 Core Award were Bimini Hortsman, Nathaniel Coleman, Olivia Brumwell and Andrew Scheffius.
In order to apply for the award please provide the information requested below and email the complete package to Athlete/PR communications associate, Kelsey.email@example.com.
The entry package should include:
- Name: Date of Birth: Address: Email: Phone: Name of home gym or home climbing area: List of top three athletic achievements or competition placements in past 12 months.
- Essay: In 250 words or less, please explain how youve contributed to the sport of climbing. Recommendation from Coach or other climbing mentor Two photos (iPhone shots are fine if they are clear and sharp enough for web use).
- Application must be submitted with the following information. Packet must be complete to be considered. Five Ten reserves rights to use all application material.
