The Finish Line Youth Foundation said more than $1 million in grants and funding was raised through its holiday campaign. This includes $145,730 in grants to 17 organizations in 10 states awarded during the fourth quarter of 2014 that focus on healthy lifestyles, youth development and special needs. It also includes $947,000 raised for Special Olympics during the holiday drive campaign hosted in Finish Line stores and online at finishline.com.
“Throughout the holidays, our customers gave generously to support Special Olympics,” said Marty Posch, president of the Finish Line Youth Foundation. “Our team values giving back in the communities where we live, work and play whether through grants to non-profit organizations or volunteering at Special Olympics events across the country. It’s so rewarding for our team to meet and be involved with these great groups who are dedicated to helping others.”
The Finish Line Youth Foundation supports qualified non-profit opportunities for participation in youth programs and camps that place an importance on youth development and an active lifestyle for disadvantaged, sick and disabled youth.
The deadline to submit grant applications at www.flyf.org for this quarter is Mar. 31, 2015.
LEGACY GRANT:
P.F. Bresee Foundation (Los Angeles) $73,730 for a multi-sport facility to be used by 600 youth providing healthy physical activity and a safe alternative to gang violence in Los Angeles. P.F. Bresee provides comprehensive afterschool programs and family services that equip youth to pursue their education, achieve full potential and serve others.
CAMPS:
Camptown, Inc. (Indianapolis) $3,000 to fund Natural Wonders Day Camp for inner-city youth.
Edgewood Center for Children and Families (San Francisco) $5,000 to fund Camp Edgewood Summer Program for children with mental, emotional and behavior health challenges.
Flying Horse Farms (Mount Gilead, Ohio) $5,000 to fund Outpost summer camp for children with serious illnesses.
Jackson Center for Conductive Education (Mooresville, Ind.) $5,000 to fund a six-week conductive education summer camp program.
Jameson, Inc. (Indianapolis) $5,000 to fund a summer camp for youth affected by HIV and AIDS.
Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California (Los Angeles) $5,000 to fund Camp Crescent Moon for children with sickle cell anemia.
Southwestern Diabetic Foundation (Gainesville, Texas) $5,000 to fund Camp Sweeney for children living with diabetes.
Summerhouse, Inc. (Charleston, S.C.) $1,500 for summer camp for children with chronic illness.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES:
Accessible Coastal Carolina Events Sports and Services (Wilmington, N.C.) $5,000 to fund the Miracle League of Wilmington accessible baseball field for children with disabilities.
Girls on the Run of WNC (Asheville, N.C.) $5,000 to fund scholarships for at-risk girls.
Green Hill Therapy (Louisville, Ky.) $5,000 for Saddle Up, a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with special needs.
Kids TRI for Kids (Indianapolis) $5,000 to fund a youth triathlon program that promotes healthy lifestyles and giving back.
Social Development Foundation (Milwaukee, Wis.) $5,000 to fund The Leader in Youth team building program for at-risk youth.
Steer for Student Athletes (Rye, N.Y.) $5,000 to help at-risk youth achieve personal development and education through sports participation.
The Elizabeth H. Faulk Foundation (Boca Raton, Fla.) $5,000 to fund mental health counseling and programs for medically underserved at-risk children and families.
Youth Combine, Inc. (Gainesville, Fla.) $2,500 for fitness programming and triathlon training for at-risk youth.
