Eider will outfit the Valdez Heli Camps guides for the 2005/06 season. Founded in 1995 by Matt White, Valdez Heli-Camps is the longest running commercial operation in Alaska and the only Alaskan operator to offer an all inclusive helicopter and snowcat skiing experience.

“We chose Eider apparel for our guides’ uniforms because of Eider’s reputation for quality technical performance wear”, said William Spilo, Lead Guide for Valdez Heli Camps. “Our guides are out from 7am until 7pm or later in all kinds of weather. They face high winds, helicopter rotor blast, strong sunshine, extreme wet conditions, heavy snowfall, and vigorous activity as they are digging snow pits, digging landing zones and ski cutting, all day long. We needed outerwear that works as hard as our guides do, and Eider apparel can accept and surpass that challenge,” said Spilo.

“Eider is a great technical brand with a long tradition of designing and developing products for people who are passionate about adventure and need high quality equipment they can count on,” said Gene Frederick, President of Eurosport, the distribution company for Eider in the USA. “Valdez Heli Camps will certainly put the Eider brand to the test and we welcome this challenge and are excited to be associated with this group!”

“We are the only operator in Alaska to offer skiing every single day to our clients because we operate snow-cats when the weather is bad, which can be as much as 50% of the time in Alaska,” said Victoria Schmidt, spokesperson for the company, “and we are especially proud that we have the longest and strongest safety record as well.”
