Dick’s Sporting Goods reported that the company submitted plans with Miami-Dade County to open a House of Sports in Miami in a space formerly occupied by a Nordstrom store in the Dadeland Mall.
Dick’s Sporting Goods signed a lease with SDG Dadeland Associates, Inc., a subsidiary of Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, on September 19, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The lease expires in February 2030 but includes seven successive extension options of ten years each.
In March 2023, Dick’s announced plans to fast-track the House of Sports concept expansion, opening as many as 75-to-100 stores by 2027. The larger, experiential concept features an outdoor turf field and running track that converts to an ice-skating rink in winter, an indoor 35-foot rock climbing wall, a tech-enhanced batting cage, golf-hitting bays, a putting green, and other interactive experiences.
Dick’s has 12 House of Sports in operation. The first three stores opened in 2021 and 2022 in Victor, NY; Knoxville, TN; Minnetonka, MN; and Katy, TX. This past July and August, nine more opened in Baybrook, TX; Davenport, IA; Champaign, IL; Chesapeake, VA; Fayetteville, NC; Latham, NY; Scranton, PA; Johnson City, NY.
For 2024, Dick’s planned openings include The Prudential Center, Boston, MA; Ross Park Mall, Pittsburgh, PA; and The Mall at Rockingham Park, Salem, NH.
