Vans Launches Shoe Customization Contest

Vans announced the launch of Global Custom Culture, an interactive shoe customization contest. The competition will award three winners from North America, Asia Pacific and Europe a $25,000 grand prize and have their shoes produced and sold by Vans.

Zumiez Blasts Past Q2 Guidance

Zumiez Inc. reported second-quarter earnings doubled and came in well above guidance. Comps rose a better-than-expected 3.6 percent in the quarter and ran up 7.1 percent in August.

AAFA President To Step Down

The American Apparel & Footwear Association announced that Rick Helfenbein will step down from his role as president and CEO on December 31, 2019. Current Executive Vice President Stephen Lamar will become the association’s president and CEO on January 1, 2020.

Oracle To Add More Than 25 New Pro Tennis Tournaments In U.S.

Oracle announced the creation of the Oracle Pro Series, a schedule of more than 25 new ATP, WTA and ITF World Tennis Tour professional tournaments to be held across the United States over the course of 2019 and 2020. The Oracle Pro Series will create more than 40 percent new playing opportunities in the United States for tennis professionals.

Tariffs Give Pause To Holiday Shoppers, Study Shows

According to Coresight’s Holiday 2019: U.S. Shopper Survey, almost six in 10 holiday shoppers are concerned about tariffs causing prices to rise on holiday gifts. Only 16 percent would absorb those rises and increase their spending.
